It’s Monday night on Memorial Day weekend and I have to say it was the best weekend I’ve had in a long time. I didn’t do much, on purpose, and finally feel caught up on a few things, sleep being one of them. I went to see the new Star Trek movie (GREAT fun) and did the usual errands on Saturday, so Sunday and Monday were open. I’d planned to go on a road trip on Sunday, checking out territory and real estate, but decided to bag it that morning.
The weather was as near to perfect as you could ask for–it was like something you’d order from a catalog: sunny, warm, breezy, not too hot, yet hot enough (high 70s) to get melty-warm. Simply heavenly. This is the reason we endure the rain and dark for six months a year. For the first time in a long time I feel rested and like I had just the right mix of relaxation (I read two books and started three more) and work (household chores, yard work , errands). I think part of the reason it was so enjoyable was because the neighborhood was quiet with everyone out of town for the holiday weekend. No Harleys BBBRRoooming through town all afternoon on Saturday and Sunday–yess! ( I’m not sure what the attraction is, but they sure seem to like to hit the road and head east. Who knew FC was a destination spot? Ugh! Noisy buggers. Me and Farley hate ’em.) The quiet just made hanging out and doing yard work so much nicer. It got a little noisy today, with people coming home and doing their weekend chores, but still not too bad.
Back to work tomorrow, but it’s a short week (the other great thing about a three day weekend–a four day work week!) so it will breeze by. I’m not sure how long the weather will hold but this weekend will “last” for a while. Ahhhh.
